Benefits of CCTV Drainage

A CCTV drain survey is when a small camera is pushed through a drain, pipe or sewer to locate the root of a blockage or damage in your drain. Whilst the camera navigates through the area, the findings are recorded and displayed on a monitor. This provides a detailed view of the problem and allows the problematic area to be tended to easily. Additionally, with this problem and the area being identified, a solution to the problem can be formulated and acted upon promptly.

Why choose to have a CCTV Drain Survey?

A CCTV drain survey is the quickest method to have an accurate, efficient and cost-effective determination of whether you have a drainage problem. By using the CCTV survey, the camera will spot if there is any debris or damage that is causing damage to drain. This method of detection allows a straight forward location of the problem. The major benefit is that the whole drainage system will not have to be excavated to find the problem. The only part that needs to be excavated is the affected area, which will have been accurately situated. This method provides the swiftest and most precise sourcing of the problem and this allows the drainage specialist to resolve this trouble with ease. In addition, the speed of this method ensures that minimal damage will be caused to your drainage system.

A CCTV Drain Survey is brilliant way to give yourself peace of mind if you are worried about your drainage system. These surveys are commonly used by home owners, who are selling their property and those who are considering buying a potential property. A faulty drainage system can be costly to replace or conduct major repairs on, therefore an assurance that the drainage is in good condition gives both sides extra peace of mind. Additionally, many people have CCTV drain surveys every so often just to keep an eye on their drainage, once they have had problems with it in the past. For a nominal fee, you can feel confident that your drainage is operating well and has absolutely no problems.

How Do I Fix a Leaking Tap?

How do I fix a leaking tap?

A leaking tap can be quite a nuisance. With its slow and rhythmic dripping, you can understand why the Chinese used it as a torture method. Instead of going slowly insane, you can fix the fault using household tools; a Phillips screwdriver, pliers, an adjustable spanner, cloth and a new washer, which is specific to your tap.

It is essential to turn the tap off at the isolation valve before beginning to fix the tap. The isolation valve is usually situated underneath the sink. There will either be a handle, which needs to be turned to stop the water flow or a screw slot, which faces upwards, that needs to be screwed to the side. If your isolation valve does not have either of these or you are unable find the valve, then you must get in contact with a plumber.

Once the isolation valve has been switched off, you will now need to undo the tap handle. There are a variety of methods to do this, which are dependent on the type of tap. It will usually be achieved by unscrewing the small screw on the tap head or manually unscrewing it by hand, or using an adjust spanner.

With the tap head unscrewed, you should ensure the tap head and the screw are placed somewhere carefully. Now with the valve on show, use the spanner to grip the nut section of the valve, where it connects to body of the tap. Then, using the spanner and the cloth, which ensures the tap will not be scratched, attach it to the base of the tap and loosen the valve with the adjustable spanner.

When it is loosened, you can unscrew the valve by hand. A tap with a rubber washer can be eased off simply using a screwdriver. You must replace the washer with a correlating one. Then, reassemble the tap, doing the reverse of these instructions and test the tap to see if it has been fixed.

If all else fails, then you must contact a plumber, so the problem can be addressed professionally.

8 tell tale signs that your drains are blocked

There are a few indications that are easy to notice, which signify that the drainage system is blocked. It is imperative to act quickly upon discovering some of these symptoms. Although these are minor implications, they can manifest into more significant ones.

What to look out for;

1. The water level in your toilet is higher than normal.

2. After flushing, the waste remains in the toilet.

3. There are strange odours emanating from the gullies and manholes.

4. This is a result of food particles and bacteria becoming lodged in the drain and pipes, then gradually decomposing whilst still in the pipe.

5. The manholes or external grates are overflowing.

6. The outside gully and grates are overflowing after the washing machine empties.

7. When you flush the toilet or empty water from the basin, shower, sink or bath, there is a gurgling sound. This sound is provoked by trapped air that bubbles up and seeps its way up to the surface as the water filters down the drain.

8. The sinks around your house have an odd smell. This is caused by the food still being stuck in the drains and pipes, which decomposes as it can not be flushed through pipes.

When these symptoms are spotted early, they can be dealt with quickly. This ensures that more serious problems with the drainage will be avoided. If you have noticed any number of these symptoms, then you must a drainage specialist. By doing so, it will be significantly cheaper to rectify a smaller trouble instead of allowing it gradually deteriorate.
